Australian Hard Cypress Flooring |
Botanical Name: Callitrus glauc |
Character |
Cypress is a unique Australian Lumber with a colour and character unlike all others. It has a varied texture that will complement and add charm to any décor. Its unique combination of low shrinkage, strength, durability and Termite resistance, make it a truly remarkable wood. |
It is in fact the worlds hardest and most naturally durable Softwood, with a hardness test in excess of American Red Oak. Its appearance will give a range of colours from Cream to Coffee, and it includes a wide range of dark coloured knots. |
It is a wood that needs some special care and attention during installation, including some filling. The finished result as seen in the Photo Gallery, is a stunning character floor. There will be no mistaking that this is a "real" wood floor. |

Availability |
Cypress is milled from widely spread natural forest areas west of the Great Dividing Range, extending from Central Queensland into south – western New South Wales. State Forests provide the majority of Cypress. These forests are professionally managed to sustain long term availability. The natural regeneration of Cypress is amazingly effective. |
There are approximately 2,500,000 acres of commercial Cypress forests, making it one of the major individual timber species available in Australia. In fact there is more Cypress now than 100 years ago. |
Chemical Free |
The heartwood of Cypress is naturally termite resistant and durable- no added chemicals are needed to resist termites. |
